(i) Reclamation, i.e. to recover waste, desert, marshy or submerged land for developing forests.

(ii) Selective use of forest resources.

(iii) Protection from fuel-starved villagers and fodder-starved cattles.

(iv) Deforestation: For all these approaches, it is of prime importance that human population be made aware of the implications of deforestation. People residing close to the forest areas need to be mobilised and encouraged to maintain the forest in their natural forms.
