Correct answer: (a) \(\pm 3, \sqrt{48}\)BM
Explanation:
Atomic number = 24
Electronic configuration is 3d^{5}, 4s^{1}
No. of valence e^{–1}(s) = 6
Total spin = \(\pm \frac{1}{2}\) x 6 = ±3
Magnetic moment
= \(\sqrt{n(n + 2)}\) = \(\sqrt{6(6 + 2)}\)
= \(\pm 3, \sqrt{48}\)BM
