Initial velocity, u = 80 km h-1
= \(\frac{(80\times 1000)m}{(60\times 60)s}\) = m s-1 = 22.22 m s-1
Final velocity, v = 60 km h-1
= \(\frac{(60\times 1000)m}{(60\times 60)s}\) = 16.66 m s-1
Time taken, t = 5 s
Acceleration, a = \(\frac{v-u}{t}\) = \(\frac{16.66-22.22}{5}\)
= -1.11 m s-2
∴ The acceleration of bus is -1.11 m s-2
Negative sign shows retardation.
