Let the marked price be x

Discount percent = Discount/Marked Price x 100

20 = \(\frac{Discount}{x}\) × 100

Discount = \(\frac{20}{100}\times x\)

= \(\frac{x}{5}\)

Discount = Marked price – Sale price

\(\frac{x}{5}\) = x – ₹ 1600

x – \(\frac{x}{5}\) = 1600

\(\frac{4x}{5}\) = 1600

x = 1600 x \(\frac{5}{4}\)

= 2000

Therefore, the marked price was ₹ 2000.
