Power of an object is said to be 1 W if it does 1 joule of work in 1 s, i.e.,
1 watt (W) = \(\frac{1\; joule (J)}{1\;second(s)}= 1Js^{-1}\)
In other words, we can say that power is 1 W when the rate of consumption of energy is 1 J s-1.
