Diameter of conical pit = 3.5 m
Radius of conical pit, r = diameter/ 2
= \(\frac{3.5}{2}\)m = 1.75m
Height of pit, h = Depth of pit = 12m
Volume of cone, V = \(\frac{1}{3}\) πr2h
V = \(\frac{1}{3}\) × \(\frac{22}{7}\) × (1.75)2 × 12 = 38.5
Volume of cone is 38.5 m3
Hence, capacity of the pit = (38.5 × 1) kiloliters
= 38.5 kiloliters.
