Here, time interval between the transmission of the signal and its reception, t = 5 s. Distance of the object from the submarine, d = 3625 m. If v is the speed of sound in water, then

2d = vt or v = \(\frac{2d}{t}\) = \(\frac{2 \times 3625}{5}\) = 1450 ms-1
