Difference between Distance and Displacement.

(i) Distance is a scalar quantity whereas displacement is a vector quantity.
(ii) Distance is the total path covered by the body and displacement is the shortest path covered by the body.
(iii) The distance can never be zero but displacement can be.
(iv) Distance can never be negative and displacement can be both i.e., positive or negative.
(v) Distance doesn’t decrease with time whereas displacement decreases.
(vi) Distance is always equal to or greater than the displacement.
