A physical quantity z depends on four observables a, b, c and d, as z = a2b2/3/√cd3. The percentage of error in the measurement of a,b,c and d are 2%, 1.5%, 4% and 2.5% respectively. The percentage of error in z is :
(1) 13.5%
(2) 16.5%
(3) 14.5%
(4) 12.25%

(3) 14.5%
Explanation:
Δt/t = 2Δa/a + 2/3 Δb/b + 1/2 Δc/c + 3 Δd/d
= 2 x 2 + 2/3 x 1.5 + 1/2 x 4 + 3 x 2.5
= 4 + 1 + 2 + 7.5
= 14.5%
