A moving proton and electron have the same deBroglie wavelength. If K and P denote the K.E. and momentum respectively. Then choose the correct option:

(1) Kp < Ke and Pp = Pe

(2) Kp = Ke and Pp = Pe

(3) Kp < Ke and Pp < Pe

(4) Kp > Ke and Pp = Pe

Correct answer: (1) Kp < Ke and Pp = Pe

Explanation:

λp = \(\frac{h}{P_p}\)

λe = \(\frac{h}{P_e}\)

∵ λp = λe

⇒ Pp = Pe

(K)p = \(\frac{P_P^2}{2m_P}\)

(K)e = \(\frac{P_e^2}{2m_e}\)

Kp < Ke and Pp = Pe
