Elements with atomic number 12, 38 resemble calcium in physical and chemical properties because they have same number of valence electrons and belong to same group 2.

Mg(12) : 2, 8, 2

Ca(20) : 2, 8, 8, 2

Sr(38) : 2, 8, 18, 8, 2
