Equation is x2 + 9x - 5 + k
(x -1) is the factor
=> (x - 1) = 0
x = 1
Put x = 1 in the equation
=> x2 + 9x - 5 + k = 0
=> (1)2 + (9 x 1) - 5 + k = 0
=>1 + 9 - 5 + k = 0
=> 5 + k = 0
=> K = -5
