The refractive index of glass is 1.50 and the speed of light in air is 3 x 108 ms-1. Calculate the speed of light in glass.

Since refractive index = n
= Speed of light in vacuum /Speed of light in the medium
= c/v
we have, v = c/n = 3 x 108/1.50
= 2 x 108 ms-1
