Converging Plates
(i) When tectonic plates come towards each other, they are called converging plates.
(ii) When they come towards each other, they either collide and crumble or one of them slides under the other.
(iii) Converging plates cause folding.
Diverging Plates
(i) When tectonic plates move away from each other, they are called diverging plates.
(ii) When they move away from each other, they do not collide or crumble.
(iii) The diverging plates cause cracks or fractures on the earth’s curst.
