Mass of bullet, m1 = 60g = 0.06 kg

Velocity of bullet v1 = 500 m/s

Mass of gun m2 = 5 kg

Recoil velocity v2

According to the law of conservation of momentum

m1 x v1 = m2 x v2

0.06 x 500 = 5 x v2

v2 = \(\frac{0.06 \times 500}{5}\)

= 6 m/s
