If CuSO4.5H2O(s) ⇌ 2H2O(g)
Kp = 1.086 × 10-4 atm 2 at 25°C. The efflorescent nature of CuSO4.5H2O can be noticed when the vapour pressure of H2O in atmosphere is
(a) > 9.72 mm
(b) < 7.92 mm
(c) > 7.92 mm
(d) < 11.92 mm

Correct answer: (b) < 7.92 mm
Explanation:
The efflorescent salts loss water to atmosphere
Kp = P2H2O = 1.086 × 10-4
PH2O = 1.042 x 10-2 atm = 7.92 mm
If H2O pressure at 25°C is less than 7.92 mm. The reaction
CuSO4.5H2O(s) → CuSO4.3H2O(s) + 2H2O(g)
will not proceed in RHS.
