How many 176 Ω resistors (in parallel) are required to carry 5 A on a 220 V line?

Given: V = 220 volts, I = 5 A
Resistance of each resistor, R = 176 Ω
Number of resistors = n, We know that V = RpI
∴ V = \(\frac{R}{n}\)I [∵ \(\frac{1}{R_p}\) = n(\(\frac{1}{R}\))]
or n = \(\frac{RI}{V}\) = \(\frac{176 \times 5}{220}\)
= 4
Hence, 4 resistors are required.
