An electric heater of resistance 8 W draws a current of 15 A from the service mains for 2 hr. Calculate the rate at which heat is developed in the heater.

Given: Resistance, R = 8 Ω, t = 2 hr, I = 15 A

Rate of heat developed, \(\frac{H}{t}\) = \(\frac{I^2RT}{t}\)

Power = I2R = (15)2 x 8 = 1800 W
