Litter
(i) Comprises of all kinds of wastes above the ground level.
(ii) Consists of biodegradable and non-biodegradable substances.
(iii) It is above ground.
Detritus
(i) Comprises of residues of dead animals and plants.
(ii) Consists of biodegradable substances only.
(iii) Detritus can be above ground or below ground.
