Pteridophytes are different from phanerogams in the following characteristics:
Pteridophytes
1. They are seedless plants.
2. Gametophytes are independent.
3. Water is required for fertilisation.
Phanerogams
1. They are seed bearing plants.
2. Gametophytes are dependent upon sporophytes for nutrition.
3. Fertilisation does not require water.
