Explanation:
S + 2Cl2 → SCl4
SCl4 + 4H2O + x → S(OH)4 + 4HCl
S(OH)4 → H2SO3 + H2O
The anion of y is SO2-3 in which S is sp3 hybridised with one lone pair of electrons on S, giving SO2-3 pyramidal shape.
