Exonucleases:
(i) They cleave base pairs of DNA at their terminal ends.
(ii) Exonucleases are nuclease which cut off nucleotides from 5′ or 3′ ends of DNA molecule.
(iii) They act on single strand of DNA or gaps in double stranded DNA.
Endonucleases:
(i) They cleave DNA at any point except the terminal ends.
(ii) Endonucleases are nucleases which cleave DNA duplex at any point except the ends. Leading to blunt or sticky ends.
(iii) They cleave one strand or both strands of double stranded DNA.
