Calcium sulphate hemihydrate.

It is prepared by heating gypsum at 373 K.

CaSO₄.2H₂O + 373K → CaSO₄.1/2H₂O + 3/2H₂O

(i) It is used to prepare chalks.

(ii) It is used to make casts and moulds.
