Sodium hydrogen carbonate is a salt of sodium hydroxide (strong base) and carbonic acid (weak acid). It is basic salt. It is converted into washing soda by heating followed by crystallization.

2NaHCO3(aq) + heat → Na2CO3 → CO2 → H2O
