Correct answer: (a) Heating AlCl3.6H2O
Explanation:
2Al + 6HCl \(\overset{\Delta, air}\longrightarrow\) 2AlCl3 + 3H2
2Al + 2Cl2 → 2AlCl3
Al2O3 + 3C + 3Cl2\(\overset{1000 °C}\longrightarrow\) 2AlCl3 + 3CO
2AlCl3 → Anhydrous AlCl3
AlCl3.6H2O \(\overset{\Delta}\longrightarrow\) Al(OH)3 + 3HCl + 3H2O
Thus AlCl3 cannot be obtained by this method.
