Assertion: The radius of the first orbit of hydrogen atom is 0.529Å.

Reason: Radius of each circular orbit (rn) - 0.529 Å (n2 /Z), where n = 1, 2, 3 and Z = atomic number.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

(b) If both Assertion and Reason are correct, but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.

(c) If Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect.

(d) If both the Assertion and Reason are incorrect.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Explanation:

Radius, rn = n2 h2/4πe2mZ

= n2 /Z x 0.529Å.rn

For first orbit of H-atom

n = 1

r1 = (1)2/1 x 0.529 Å = 0.529 Å
