Correct answer: (a) 12
Explanation:
X3- has 14 protons, i.e., X also has 14 protons and therefore 14 electrons.
X = 14 = 1s2, 2s2 2p6 , 3s2 3p2
X2+ = 1s2, 2s2 2p2, 3s2
= 12 electrons
