Explanation:

During photosynthesis, assimilatory power ATP and NADPH2 are produced which require light. This reaction is called light reactions or Hill's reaction. Assimilatory powers are required for the reduction of CO2. This reaction is enzymatic and independent of light. It is called dark reaction which takes place in stroma of chloroplast. So, dark reaction is independent of presence or absence of light.
