A capacitor of capacitance 'C', is connected across an ac source of voltage V, given by V = V0 sin ωt. The displacement current between the plates of the capacitor would then be given by:
(1) Id = V0 ωC cos ωt
(2) Id = \(\frac{V_0}{\omega C}\)cos ωt
(3) Id = \(\frac{V_0}{\omega C}\)sin ωt
(4) Id = V0 ωCsin ωt

Correct answer: (1) Id = V0 ωCcosωt
Explanation:
q = CV
\(\frac{dq}{dt}\) = \(\frac{CdV}{dt}\)
Id = C(V0 ωCcosωt)
= V0 ωCcosωt
