A motorboat starting from rest on a lake accelerates in a straight tine at a constant rate of 3.0 m s-2Β for 8.0 s. How far does the boat travel during this time?

u = 0, a = 3.0 ms-2, t = 8s

s = ut + 1/2at2 = 0 x t + 1/2(3) x (8)2

s = 1/2 x 3 x 64 = 96 m

∴ Boat travelled a distance of 96 m.
