A wire is 1.0 m long, 0.2 mm in diameter and has a resistance of 10 Ω. Calculate the resistivity of its material?

A wire is 1.0 m long, 0.2 mm in diameter and has a resistance of 10 Ω. Calculate the resistivity of its material?

l = 1m

r = d/2 = 0.2/2 mm

= 0.1 mm = 0.0001m,

R = 10 ohm

We know that,

R = \(\rho \frac{I}{A}\)

\(\rho = \frac{RA}{I}\)

= \(\frac{10 \times \pi \times (0.0001)^2}{1}\)

= \(31.4 \times 10^{-8}\)
