Explanation:

DDT (dichloro diphenyl trichloroethane) is a organochlorine contact insecticide that kills by acting as a nerve poison. DDT was originally used during world war II to control typhus which was spread by body louse. Since then it has been used to control mosquito borne malaria and was used extensively as a general agricultural insecticide.
