On heating compound (A) gives a gas (B) which is a constituent of air. This gas when treated with H2 in the presence of a catalyst gives another gas (C) which is basic in nature. (A) should not be :

(1) (NH4)2Cr2O7

(2) NH4NO2

(3) Pb(NO3)2

Correct answer: (3) Pb(NO3)2

Explanation:

(1) Pb(NO3)2 + Δ → PbO + 2NO2

(2) NH4NO2 + Δ → N2 + 2H2O

(3) (NH4)2Cr2O7 + Δ → N2 + Cr2O7 + H2O

(4) NaN3 + 300°C → 3N2 + 2Na
