(a) Virchow
Explanation:
The cell is the basic structural and functional unit of living organisms. In 1855, Rudolf Virchow showed that all cells arise from the pre-existing cells by cell division or Omnis-cellula-e-cellula. Robert Hooke was the first one to find out the basic units of life and termed them as cells. Anton van Leeuwenhoek was the one who observed unicellular organisms including bacteria. Robert Brown described the nucleus as a characteristic spherical body in plant cells.
