(a) A symbol of an element is the short form used to represent an individual element or the atoms of the elements. They are commonly used to designate elements in chemical reaction.
Example: Symbol O refers to oxygen. C represents one atom of Carbon and also represents 12gms of carbon.
(i) It represents definite mass of the element.
(ii) It represents one mole of the atom of the element.
(b) Significance of Symbol H
(i) It represents Hydrogen element.
(ii) It represents one atom of Hydrogen element.
(iii) It represents one mole of Hydrogen atoms.
(iv) It represents 2 gms of Hydrogen.
