What is washing soda? State two properties and two uses of washing soda.

Washing soda is sodium carbonate decahydrate.
Properties:
(i) It is transparent crystalline solid.
(ii) It is soluble in water.
Uses:
(i) It is used for removing permanent hardness of water.
(ii) It is used in the manufacture of glass, soap and paper.
