(a) On strong heating, blue copper sulphate crystals turn white.

CuSO₄.5H₂O + Heat → CuSO₄ + 5H₂O

(b) When water is added to anhydrous copper sulphate, it gets hydrated and turns blue.

CuSO₄ + 5H₂O → CuSO₄.5H₂O
