(a) Compound X is Plaster of Paris.

(b) The chemical equation for its preparation is:

CaSO4.2H2O + Heat at 100°C + 373K → CaSO4.1/2H2O + 1\(\frac{1}{2}\)H2O

(c) Plaster of Paris (POP) is used in hospitals for setting fractured bones in the right position to ensure correct healing.
